I’m trying to calculate the sales tax for a $1,000 purchase in New Jersey. Could someone explain the current NJ sales tax rate and how much the total would be with tax included?

The state sales tax rate in New Jersey is now 6.625%.

The tax on a $1,000 purchase is $66.25. The amount after adding your subtotal would be $1,066.25. Keep in mind that many things are tax-exempt in New Jersey, such as the majority of apparel and groceries.

Yes, mason you are correct that New Jersey collects a 6.625 percent Sales Tax on purchases of most tangible personal property, on the purchases of specified digital products and on certain services unless otherwise exempt by New Jersey law. For getting detailed information you can visit there official visit which is https://www.nj.gov/treasury/taxation/businesses/salestax/index.shtml
