I’m trying to understand what the luxury tax in India is and how it works. Could someone explain what it applies to, how it is calculated, and whether it is still relevant under the current tax system?

"Luxury Tax" is now included in GST in India. The highest category of 18% or 28% is drawn to most luxury goods. Superluxury items, such as expensive vehicles and private aircraft, are subject to a 40% tax in order to deter wasteful spending and raise money.
